Thanks to the Clutch Chatter’s website, I have been corresponding
with Trevor Poulsen in Australia. I am re-printing his last email. I
hope this club can help him find a copy of a magazine he has built
his whole love for Early Ford’s on.
Hi Charlotte, Thank you for trying to solve my problem, but this is not the date that I am chasing. Granted, our local Early Ford V8 Club was formed in 1976, but what got me first interested, was the article in Rod & Custom magazine, of an event in 1967? as when I saw some of the cars on display, I fell in love with the 33/34 models, & thus began my search for one to restore. I managed to track a 4 cylinder 1933 Ford Phaeton down 200 miles away. We towed it home June 1968 & started to work on it. Then in 1969, I happened onto a 1934 Ford V8 Phaeton, in drivable condition. The 33 went into mothballs, while we worked on the 34. Then, in 1970, I came across another 34, & just had to add it to my collection. Enclosed are 2 recent pictures of my two babies, both 1934's. Anyway, back to my story, I got side tracked. Knowing that magazines take about 2 months to arrive in Australia from USA, plus events don't [or didn't] appear in print for at least a month after the event was held, would mean that the Nationals? that I am chasing would be the 1967 Western Nationals, which you have identified as Fresno. Would there have been tall trees at Fresno? From memory, there were a lot of tall trees in the article. I just wish that I could locate a copy of this R&C Mag. Does anyone recall the coverage in R&C? Thanks again for all the trouble that you have gone to on my behalf. Hope you enjoy the pictures. Maybe, I will have to wait until your next monthly meeting. Someone may recall the R&C article. I would still have that magazine, but where? is the big question.
