TOURS

We had 2 Great tours in May! John Buttram led both the V-8 Club and the Buick Club on a tour of the Lincoln Highway. John’s report didn’t arrive in time for printing. However the directions for the tour are available for your future use. Click here for the Lincoln Highway.

We had a wonderful pancake breakfast in the Dutch Flat United Methodist Church, built in 1859. Then we traveled further up the mountains to a Ranger Station, were we were treated to a couple movies. It was about traveling from the Bay area to Lake Tahoe in 1915. It took 2 full days ! The kids enjoyed playing in the snow wearing shorts, sandals and sun dresses! Then on to Lunch at Rainbow Lodge. We didn't leave all at the same time, so we didn’t tie up traffic.

It was kinda nice to see other beautiful cars besides our own beautiful V-8’s ! The ETV (Emergency Tow Vehicle) was not needed, although the thought of it being on such a long tour was comforting !

Berry Johnson didn’t trust his Woodie on such a long trip, but he brought it out for the Rocklin Tour ! I had no idea Rocklin was so interesting ! Did you know farmers used granite fence posts because of the frequency of wild fires that destroyed the wooden ones? Dave Fibush did a fine report on this tour for Judi, and can be found in this Chatter. Thanks, Judi Fibush !
