Ford/Buick Tour
|
|
We will meet at 8:00 AM in the Raley's parking lot at the Foresthill exit off 80 in Auburn.
The tour will depart at 8:30 AM SHARP. We will follow as much of old highway 40 as possible. All but about 6 miles will be on old 40. Will proceed at a lazy pace so the old timers can keep up. There will be a trip package provided, maybe a truck and trailer rescue service for breakdowns if we can find a volunteer, this will be a laid back day the sun will shine.

At around 9:30 there will be a pancake breakfast at a historical church in Dutch Flat, cost $5.00 (See the note above about headcount.) There is a museum next door to peruse. We will then proceed to the ranger station for a walking tour in Big Bend. The ranger is reported to be an excellent speaker. Focus will be on the history of Big Bend, Emigrant Trail and Rainbow Lodge. See grooves and scars of the old wagon wheels where they scraped on the granite boulders. The ranger station is opening a week early just for us, a $2.00 donation for the service helps keep it running.
After the tour a private room
will be set aside for our (optional) lunch at the Rainbow Lodge. (See the
note above about headcount.) Then on to Truckee for
shopping for those who want to browse the shops.

This is a joint to tour with The Capital Chapter of the Buick Club of America . Ruth Anne Rose and John Buttram are also members of the Buick Club. They are a friendly group with some stunning Buicks and they are not afraid to drive their cars.
