SWAP MEET ‘06 The much discussed joint V-8 swap meet and Farmer’s Market, held on the same date and both on the campus of Consumnes River College, came off without any noticeable hitches. In fact, those seven Farmer’s Market venders enjoyed the dual purchases from some wagon totting swap meters mixing strawberries, peaches, and apples; with auto parts. FANTASTIC WEATHER! The new road access was very workable, with the aid of some new directional entry signs. A total count of venders is not in, as of this report. However Judi Fibush claimed three pages of vendor names & mailing addresses. She is going to send a Thank You note for attending and notifying them of future events. Our volunteer turn out of successful. GIVE YOURSLVES A PAT ON THE BACK ! I won’t try to list everyone this time, as you will shortly see why. John Holzhauser snapped a shot of a fill vendor & buyer aisle, to capture the turnout.
It was a nice surprise to see one of our Oregonian members, Ron Monroe; until he reminded me I hadn’t mentioned his attendance at Tacoma Western Nationals and even further, had not mentioned he also received an award with his blue ‘36 V-8 Cabriolet. Bill & Sue Macaulay also attended Tacoma. Oh yes, I also asked Ron how he came to receive that award. (I promised not to write about it.) Lots of orphans on display, like that Hudson. A motorcycle side car, a ‘33 Chrysler at $6,000, with no Fords in equal condition to the Hudson. In a conversation with Bruce Woodward, it was noted that the asphalt parking lot was filled with vendors, which usually has not occurred in past events. With maybe less sellers now situated in the dirt area, he believes the Swap Meet maybe larger than last year. The Car Corral Sales Area doubled in size from previous years. I complimented the seller on the beauty of his trailered Jaguar from Placerville, which he readily agreed. He also commented there is just one thing wrong with it. (I believe it was between the front & rear bumper. It’s a pile of junk!) Asking $25,000. |
