BIG HAPPENINGS in the Club this month. Number one, Bob & Lorraine Kane had an accident over on Highway 101 and Lorraine was life flighted to Kaiser in Santa Rosa. She had surgery on Saturday to put pins, etc. in her right arm that had a compound fracture. She also has broken ribs, broken clavicle (shoulder), 2 broken ribs, bruised lung, and several lacerations, plus a mild heart attack (I am not surprised, I would too!). She was taken by ambulance to Kaiser in South Sac. She is in Intensive Care and can have no visitors.

Bob sounds ok, but he said he had lost 5 pounds. I told him to be sure he takes care of himself and be sure he eats, etc. He doesn’t want both of them ending up in matching beds in a nursing home because he didn’t take care of himself.

The doctors feel Lorraine will make a good recovery, although she might be limited on the use of her right arm. Let’s all pray for them both.

I made a mistake last month. Laurice Kippel had her gallbladder removed, not heart surgery. I just talked to her and she sounds weak, but she was about to leave for an MRI appointment. Their son, Steve is helping his parents. I remember how important that help is, too.

I also talked to Ruth Anne Rose this morning, and she sounded terrible. She thinks she has a cold in her chest. She has been to the hospital with it, too, but is home now. She has Kaiser, too. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out Ruth Anne has something else.

ON TO BETTER NEWS !!! I understand the Swap Meet did very well Sunday. I was unable to go, so I sent a few friends in my stead. I called EVERYONE in the Club and reminded them about the Swap Meet and asked them to go help. I heard they had lots of help. THANK YOU ! (This means steaks again next year in July!) So many club’s swap meets were dismal this year and we were all worried we wouldn’t even cover expenses. So many of the ways we usually advertise have dried up and/or died. I guess we have a good reputation, they showed up anyway !

Gene Hall told me he saw people leaving with old Ford parts and strawberries. I bet the Farmer’s Market was glad to have us. Increased their business, too. Bruce had been worried about that.

An email I received:

Charlotte,

The Roamin’ Angels 7th Annual Cruisin' the Pines Car Show was attended by Tom &Penny Klement and Dave & Judi Fibush. Notice the hood is up on Tom's '32. That was for display not for repair! There were hundreds of great cars including some very nice woodies.
